Sanchezia
Le genre Sanchezia regroupe une vingtaine d'espèces de plantes à fleurs de la famille des Acanthacées originaires des régions tropicales d'Amérique.

Etymologie
Le nom de genre fut donné en hommage à Josepho Sanchez qui fut auditeur au jardin botanique de Madrid et professeur de botanique à l'université de Cadix[1].
