Peter Worsley

Peter Worsley, né le à Birkenhead et mort le (à 88 ans), est un sociologue et anthropologue social britannique. Il est considéré comme le premier scientifique à avoir introduit le terme de tiers-monde (third world) dans la langue anglaise[1],[2]. Il est également connu pour avoir été le premier professeur de sociologie à l'Université de Manchester en 1964.

En 1955, Peter Worsley obtient le Curl Bequest Prize de l'Institut Royal d'Anthropologie pour la publication de The kinship system of the Tallensi: a revaluation (Publié dans JRAI 1956, pp. 37–75)[3].
